I am doing my Where Are We Now assignment on the threat of an armed uprising in Timbuktu. This is my article:http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/12/world/africa/timbuktu-world-heritage-threat-inside-Africa
summary:
Timbuktu, a place of historical achievements in the empire of Mali, has recently been under threat from a group of armed rebels. These rebels are expected to be the Tuareg, which were Gadhafi's forces, and Muslim extremests. These rebels have had control of Timbuktu for the past month. The locals are refusing to fight in fear of damaging the ruins of Timbuktu. The rebels are heavily affecting the locals lives because they won't let tourists into the city. This is putting locals into poverty and has dis-positioned over 200,000 people.

NIce. I can get a sense of the picture. Mr. Chester O 100 Most Influential People ProjectJames WattBy: Garrett Winkler 3/4* 10/23/12 James Watt was a very important and influential man. James Watt grew up in Greenock, Scotland in the 1700s. Although James was a very intelligent kid, he was often notable to attend school because of poor health. His early education was given by his parents so, James Watt got an early education in engineering and handy working. He was said to have spent his free time sketching, carving, and working with wood and metal. In 1759, Doctor Robison introduced James to the concept of steam engines and the propulsion of carriages. James made miniature models out of tin steam cylinders and pistons attached to a driving wheel by gears. Soon James lost his interest in steam engines but, he regained it twenty five years later when examined the Newcomen steam engine. He then began conducting experiments on the element of steam. He soon discovered that it took a very low quantity of steam to heat a very large quantity of water. James soon found that at the boiling point his condensing steam could heat six times its weight of the water that was used for condensations. Realizing that steam was a greater absorbent for heat than water, James found a deep need to economize the boiler to have wooden shells to reduce conduction and radiation. Once James Watt found out what resulted in the main loss of heat, he fixed the cylinder which was radiating and conducting heat, by using wood which he soaked in oil and baked it to increase the economy of steam. James built his larger expirimental engine and hired a room old deserted pottery. In august 1765 he tried the small engine and wrote to Dr. Roebuck that he had good success though the machine wasn't perfect. James was soon reduced to poverty in which he borrowed money from his friends. He thenseekedemployment to provide for his family. He was employed as a surveyor of coal fields near Glasglow. In 1767 Dr. Roebuck assumed James' liabilities and provided E1000. He also agreed to provide more for the capitol in exchange for 2/3 of Watt's patent. In 1769 the steam engine was finished. source: http://inventors.about.com/od/wstartinventors/a/james_watt_4.htm
